Man accused of 2019 fatal shooting of taxicab driver in Windcrest arrested; Affidavit implicates second suspect

SAN ANTONIO – A man accused of fatally shooting a taxicab driver in Windcrest two years ago was arrested Friday on the West Side of San Antonio, and an arrest affidavit implicates at least one other suspect in the crime.

Baldemar Hinojoza Jr., 44, was taken into custody Friday and charged with capital murder in the death of Aadam Ugaas Xirsi. Windcrest police said Hinojoza had been on the run since January 2019.

Authorities were initially called to the parking lot of a Texas Thrift Store off of Interstate 35, near Loop 410, on Jan.

Officials speak on progress of Texas Anti-Gang Initiative

SAN ANTONIO – The Texas Anti-Gang Initiative is being called a scientific and strategic approach to dismantling gangs.

On Friday, federal, state and local law enforcement agencies stood alongside Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales to talk about the joint effort to make the San Antonio area safer.

“Since I first took office, I said I wanted to focus the efforts of the DA's office on violent crime, and that's exactly what we're doing,” Gonzales said. “Our goal is to take these people (gang members) off the street, to identify them, to work together and to go to court and get maximum punishment.”

Some recent convictions being credited to the Texas Anti-Gang initiative, also known as TAG, are the following:

Rudy Smith, a documented member of Tango Orejon who is now serving life in prison for murder and for being involved in a shootout with law enforcement
Tyler Collins, a documented member of the Bloods who was sentenced to life in prison for a capital murder charge
Manuel Garcia, a member of the Mexican Mafia who is serving life in prison for intentionally running down two men with a stolen car.

Stiff sentences were also handed down to members of the Crips and Rigsby Court Bloods.

“We have seen a very surgical strike on the leaders of this gang violence,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge Chris Combs.

“The days of agencies hoarding information, not sharing information, are long, long past,” said San Antonio Police Chief William McManus.

Even with all the efforts, officials are still asking for the public’s help.

Jorge Tirado, 47, was arrested in Pleasanton. He allegedly admitted to being part of the Latin Kings, a notorious street gang.

Pleasanton police recently confirmed the arrest of man who allegedly admitted to being a general in the Latin Kings, an organized street gang.

Jorge Tirado, 47, was arrested in a traffic stop in Pleasanton, police said.

Tirado had two outstanding warrants, police said on Monday.

SA crips ringleader, two other gang members face additional federal charges

SAN ANTONIO - A San Antonio crips ringleader and two other gang members are facing additional federal charges stemming from their November arrest on a federal crack cocaine distribution conspiracy charge.

The United States Attorney’s Office announced that the federal grand jury has returned separate indictments against Crips East Terrance Gangstas ringleader Alvin Clark, 40; James Bilal Ali, 35; and Dai’Vonte E’Shaun Titus Ross, 21.

Officials said Clark and Ali are being charged with one count of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

Ross is being charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, officials said.

BCSO: Gang member caught with 134 grams of heroin, $80,000 in West Side raid

Bexar County deputies on Wednesday arrested an alleged gang member who they said had more than 100 grams of heroin.

David Medina, 37, faces two felony and one misdemeanor drug charges. He remains in the Bexar County Jail on a bond of more than $40,000.

According to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, deputies executed a search warrant at a home in the 2500 block of Suzette Avenue.
